Exhibition highlights include a Q&A with industry experts about the rapidly growing wearables industry, presentations on 3D Printing, and an innovation zone with displays of 3D printing and sensor technologies, and a presentation on wearable heartrate monitors for swimmers.

While the majority of applications of 3D printing have been for medical purposes, there is also increasing use of it for creating high-tech fashion. Designers including Iris Van Herpen, Nadir Gordon, and Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel have leveraged the technology to create elaborate prints and sculptural apparel and footwear. Wearables are also a rapidly growing industry, and include watches that track physical activity and heartrate.

Designers of Things (DoT), produced by UMB, is a newly established conference focused on Wearable Tech, 3D Printing and the Internet of Things, and business strategies for scaling up these technologies. DoT also hosts educational programs, technology demonstration, and networking opportunities for designers and businesses.
