A documentary on Ed Hardy founder and Von Dutch designer Christian Audigier will be released in the US next year.

The film is called Vif and documents the life of the French-born Audigier who was known for his work with Von Dutch. He also started his own Ed Hardy brand which operated 100 licenses globally before he sold it, upon receiving a terminal health diagnosis, to spend time with his wife and children.

Audigier was diagnosed with an aggressive blood cancer in January 2015 and passed away a few months later at the age of 57. The film chronicles both highs and lows, including scenes of him as a cancer patient. At one point in the film he says, "Before, I dreamed of becoming a top fashion designer and now all I want is to survive.”

The documentary follows Audigier throughout his career. Known for being flashy and for pushing limits, the designer's journey is charted around the world, exploring time spent in a Bali prison, as well as in his native France. It features interviews with Snoop Dogg, Sylvester Stallone and Stephen Dorff.

The French production company which made the film, Mensch Pictures, has now entered into a distribution agreement with Gravitas Ventures. Gravitas is responsible for distributing top iTunes documentaries including "Chris Brown: Welcome to my life" and Richard Branson's "Don't look Down."

The movie was recently awarded an Official Selection at the Glendale Film Festival in Los Angeles in October. Gravitas will make Vif available on 100 video-on-demand steaming platforms beginning March of 2018.
