One scholar and two specialists from FIT were awarded Fulbright awards for 2018–2019. Joseph Antee, associate professor of fashion business management, and Brenda Cowan, associate professor and associate chair of exhibition and experience design, were awarded Fulbright Specialist Grants.

Deirdre Sato, dean for international education, was awarded a Fulbright International Education Administrator Seminar Award to travel to India. Through her Fulbright, Sato will learn about the country's education system and establish networks of colleagues both in the U.S. and internationally.

"Globalism is part of the FIT mission because it is important to us that our students learn to navigate in cultures unlike their own," said Dr. Joyce F. Brown, president of FIT. "I am confident that our students and the rest of the FIT community will be enriched by the experiences of our Fulbright awardees on their return."

Each year the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs announces the top producing institutions for the Fulbright Program. The Chronicle of Higher Education publishes this lists annually.

The Fulbright Program operates in over 125 countries throughout the world. Over 800 U.S. college and university faculty members and administrators, professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, and independent scholars are awarded grants to teach and conduct research each year.
