Canadian company Fashion Forward is bringing a new fashion showcase to the city of Toronto.

Baptized “Fashion Forward In The 6ix”, the event is designed to provide a branding platform for emerging Canadian designers and is inspired by Toronto’s fashion industry. The fashion show will take place on August 13 under a ‘Summer Mist’ theme, inspired by the famous poem, “The Rose that Grew from Concrete”.

The runway will feature five handpicked designers: Stephanie Yiu, Taneka Clarke-Powell, Chantille Eaton, Zianne Small and Mavis Amakye. Collections will include bridal styles, evening wear, and ready-to-wear. What's more, the designers will each participate in a live interview that will take place before each presentation.

"Fashion Forward is focused on presenting our designers in the right light. We will be sharing interviews of each designers on the runway prior to their collection speaking on their brand, growth and success. We aspire to have our audience grasp each of their stories to provide a better understanding of how much designing means to them," the company said, in a news statement.

Following the cancelation of Toronto's official fashion week formerly run by IMG, Toronto has seen several new fashion showcases emerge including Re/Set and Escape the Runway, to name a few.

Fashion Forward, founded in 2016 by Taisha Freeman, is the latest event to pop-up in the city.

The event will take place at Artscape Sand ahead of the return of Toronto Fashion Week on September 5, 6 and 7, and of Toronto Women's Fashion Week (TW) taking place October 2 to 7.
