With Boone, the Macy’s board now has twelve members. Boone will serve on the nominating and governance committee.

At Google, Boone currently serves as vice president of global client partnerships. In the role, he is responsible for driving the company’s strategies and partnerships across a portfolio of major global advertisers from across the tech, health, beauty and consumer packaged goods industries.

In addition, he leads a team focused on large scale global strategic partnerships that deploy Google products and platforms. He also serves as co-lead of the NYC office and a member of the company’s global business hiring committee.

Prior to Google, Boone served as global chief executive officer of an integrated agency startup within WPP, as president, Boston with marketing and advertising company Digitas, and as senior manager with management consulting company Bain & Company

“[Boone’s] multigenerational knowledge and global view of the consumer will be essential to Macy’s Inc. during a time when we’re hyper focused on strengthening our customer base,” said Jeff Gennette, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s.

“His expertise in advertising, marketing and technology will add value as we continue to balance the art and science in our marketing strategies. In addition, his work as an advocate for ethnic diversity and inclusion also make him a great fit for the Macy’s, Inc. board of directors.”

Macy’s is ranked as the 6th largest U.S. e-commerce retailer, according to eMarketer, but the company has struggled to maintain positive growth. In November, a 3.9% drop in comparable sales caused the company to cut its annual profit forecast for the second time this year, and earlier this month the company abruptly lost its president, former Ebay exec Hal Lawton, to a farming supply chain

Despite its woes, Macy’s executives said they are confident the company will gain some needed momentum from a strong holiday season.
