The British Fashion Council has been teasing the content of Monday’s Fashion Awards for some time now, and on Friday it released more information for the TikTok-sponsored event with a focus on the red carpet.

The sold-out awards ceremony, which takes place at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Monday, comes with an amped-up, all-new format for 2021 after its hiatus as a live show in 2020.

It will see Brit Award-winning British singer/songwriter Griff performing live from the red carpet. The performance will launch the first ever Red-Carpet Livestream at 18:15 hosted on the official @thefashionawards TikTok account.

This will be followed by a stream of live interviews and behind-the-scenes content, “bringing the excitement of one of the most important events of the fashion calendar to a global TikTok audience”.

The BFC also said that comedienne Elsa Majimbo, designer Henry Holland and TikTok creator Tega Alexander “will be speaking to famous faces and global talent as they make their way into the Royal Albert Hall”.

Across the red-carpet space, TikTok’s own Fashion Awards Glambot will be assembled to “capture must-see red carpet looks, sharing these in real time by uploading them to the @FashionAwards TikTok account”.

Inside the ceremony hall, TikTok has partnered with Dazed on an exclusive winner's media room that means throughout the event, “talent will stop by to give some exclusive soundbites to Dazed around winning their award”.

The event raises funds for the BFC Foundation that focuses on talent, education, grant-giving and business mentoring. It aims to “improve equality and opportunity so that the fashion industry remains diverse and open to all, helping talented designers at all stages of their career from school level through to becoming a global fashion brand”.

Over 2020/21, the BFC has raised £1.7 million for the BFC Foundation, and its talent support initiatives and this year the charity supported 33 designers.
