Gwyneth Paltrow’s lifestyle brand Goop is set to open a shop-in-shop in Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge this week, showcasing a special collection of hero products.

Goop is setting up shop on the fourth floor of the luxury department store’s flagship store until 28 February 2020.

The brand has been pushing for growth in European markets, and last year it opened its first pop-up store in London in the Notting Hill area. Stocking a curated mix of fashion, home, beauty and wellness products, the space proved so popular the company decided to make it permanent.

But the wellness brand’s UK venture has not been without its challenges. Last year, Goop faced criticism from a charity dedicated to debunking unscientific product claims, which complained to the Advertising Standards Authority and National Trading Standards for 113 claims that gave “potentially dangerous” advice.

With a key focus on wellness, the brand has run into trouble several times in the past for making unsubstantiated claims. In September 2018, the company agreed to pay $150,000 (£112,514)  in California to settle a lawsuit after making unscientific claims about the health benefits of vaginal eggs.

Despite this, Goop is going strong in the UK and it will hold its first UK event in Hammersmith, London on 29-30 June, with tickets available from £1,000.

Commenting on the opening of the Harvey Nichols store, Gwyneth Paltrow said: “We love the community we’ve created around our Notting Hill shop, and the Harvey Nichols shop-in-shop allows us to expand on that community,”

The space will be designed by US interior design consultancy Charles & Co.
