Now in its 10th year, The Campaign for Wool, initiated by its Patron His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, aims to increase awareness of wool’s natural and sustainable benefits, through garments, which reflect everyday luxury, modern practicality and sustainability.

This year’s capsule collection blends traditional inspirations with modern finishing for the launch of three coats from Line and a blazer from Smythe. The designers behind the brands are said to have been inspired by different characteristics of wool and their own personal connections to the fibre for the creation of their final designs.

Alexandra Weston, DVP Brand & Creative Strategy, Holt Renfrew, said: “Each piece was thoughtfully created with sustainability and the attributes of wool, at the core of the design process. The capsule collection exemplifies beautifully how this ancient fiber and textile craft can be transformed into great modern classic pieces."

The designs were created with wool fabrics from two historic textile mills including Harris Tweed and Abraham Moon. Harris Tweed is handwoven in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland and is the only fabric in the world to be governed by an Act of Parliament to ensure quality and authenticity, while Abraham Moon, founded in 1837, is located in Yorkshire, England, and remains one of the last vertically integrated mills in the UK.

“All projects, including the capsule collection, are rooted in The Prince’s belief that the natural, renewable, biodegradable benefits of wool can have a profound impact in our lives, especially when it comes to fashion,” explained Matthew J. Rowe, CEO for The Campaign for Wool Canada, in a news statement.

Wool is a natural fibre making it a cleaner and more effective substitute to artificial materials. wool is also celebrated for being durable, renewable, biodegradable, multi-climatic, easy to care for, and naturally odour, flame and UV resistant.

The capsule collection is now available - ahead of Wool Month in Canada - at Holt Renfrew stores in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, as well as online.
