Hood by Air takes home 2015 CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear

The CFDA announced Shayne Oliver for Hood by Air as the winner of the 2015 CFDA Swarovski Award for Menswear at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards. Oliver won the award over Alex, Matthew and Samantha Orley of Orley, and Ariel and Shimon Ovadia of Ovadia & Sons. This was Oliver’s second nomination in a row and his first win, he lost out to Tim Coppens in 2014.

Oliver founded Hood by Air in 2006, which has since evolved from a cult brand to a major New York City fashion label. The brand launched with a t-shirt before expanding to a full collection in late 2007. In 2013, Hood by Air made its Fashion Week debut, and the brand debuted in Paris a year later in September. Oliver has been nominated for the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2014. In the same year, Hood by Air was nominated for the 2014 CFDA Swarovski award.
 
Other winners from the 2015 CFDA Awards include Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for The Row who took home the Womenswear Designer of the Year award, Tom Ford for the Menswear Designer of the Year award, Tabitha Simmons for the Accessories Designer of the Year award, Rosie Assoulin for the Swarovski Award for Womenswear, and Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel of Mansur Gavriel for the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design.

Betsey Johnson was awarded the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino was given the International Award, Millard “Mickey” Drexler of J. Crew was awarded the Founder’s Award in Honor of Eleanor Lambert, the Media Award in Honor of Eugenia Sheppard was given to Instagram, and Pharrell Williams was presented with the Fashion Icon Award by Kanye West.
