Last month, the Parisian brand inaugurated a 150-square-meter space at Bal Harbour Shops on 9700 Collins Ave, introducing a unique design aesthetic inspired by the 1970s. The store concept was developed by Marant’s studio in partnership with a group of local designers and artisans resulting in a new approach to luxury that is intimate and personal.

At the store, customers are welcomed by large display windows and an entrance door accessorized with an Isabel Marant signature handle. Inside, the brand’s women's wardrobe is arranged, alongside sculptures, a fluffy Berber sofa and pieces of design that act as travel souvenirs. The store is characterized by a forest of fiber porcelain, ceramic podiums and terracotta tiles on the floor and on the walls.

The location houses the main line, a selection of the casual and affordable Isabel Marant Etoile collection, and her line of handbags and shoes as well as the men’s collection.

“Isabel Marant’s wardrobe seems to come from a suitcase that spills open to share its treasures. Roaming as if life were lived on the road,” the brand described in a news statement.

“Capturing the zeitgeist, in a creative and joyful spirit, Isabel plays with the space as she would play with her own clothes. Cutting out patches from the ceiling – as if they were dress patterns – or carving a wall with the shape of her iconic 90° earrings. Everything rolls, everything flows.”

Marant founded her label in 1994 and has become renowned for her pioneering and cosmopolitan spirit. Since inception, she has been trying on each garment before it leaves her studio to ensure everything works in the everyday life of a real woman.

The designer, who opened her first boutique in Paris in the late nineties, currently operates 64 stores across the globe. Bal Harbour is the second Isabel Marant boutique in Miami after the Design District.

Most recently, in September, for the first time in its history, the brand named Dutch designer Kim Bekker as its first-ever artistic director.
