Makeup guru Jeffree Star has claimed in a Youtube video that he was robbed of $2.5 million-worth of cosmetics products, including the yet-to-be-launched Magic Star concealer.

In the video explaining the robbery, Star said that the theft followed his March 15 upload of a reveal video for his Blue Blood palette and collection. Later that same night at around 1.00 a.m., one of the warehouses containing Star's cosmetics was broken into and thousands of units of product were stolen.

“I fully believe it was an inside job,” Star said. “I think that it was someone who temporarily worked [at the facility] who tipped [the thieves] off. We have been getting deliveries at new facilities…and one of them was not secure enough…they came in through the roof, it was a very professional job.”

Northern Lights Supreme Frost highlighter palettes; an entire shipment of Platinum Ice palettes; lipliners and Magic Star concealers were included in the theft.

After the robbery, Star said he hired a team of investigators who are reportedly in contact with the FBI. During the last weekend in March, this team found a photo of a stolen Magic Star concealer posted online to Facebook Marketplace, leaking the new product.

In his video, Star said the person who posted the photo with intent to sell is now “in jail,” and is being questioned to determine the whereabouts of the alleged black market source holding the bulk of the stolen product.

According to Star, every unit of cosmetics stolen is insured, and the investigation is ongoing.
