Genesco's Journeys business is on a growth trajectory: the mall-based specialty retailer has expanded its Tennessee distribution center by over 60%, or 200,000 square feet, and will add 75 jobs in the next five years.

The newly extended site is expected to ship some 24.2 million units in 2018 - Facebook: Journeys

Mario Gallione, president of Journeys said that the extended distribution center "will allow our team to expand and more efficiently service our orders nationwide.”

The Lebanon, TN site is now a 540,000-square-foot warehouse, which Operations forecasts will ship some 24.2 million units this year.

The expanded distribution center received 14 new e-commerce stations, as well as new technology that allows for streamlined fulfillment of e-comm orders. For example, improvements mean that the company can now use batch picking rather than single picking for increased efficiency.

Journeys also added 21 additional loading and shipping dock doors, a 156% increase in reserve pallet locations. Furthermore, the company added 125 trailer spaces as well as a further 150 employee parking spaces, while a new employee entrance was also added to the facility.

Journeys operates 1,350 stores in seven countries in North America and Europe, under seven brand names including Journeys, Journeys Kidz, Shi by Journeys, Underground by Journeys, Schuh, Schuh Kids and Little Burgundy.
