Krewe, the New Orleans-based eyewear label, opened on Friday its first New York City boutique at 39½ Mercer Street in SoHo. The new store is the brand’s fourth retail location, joining stores in New Orleans, Savannah, GA, and Dallas.
The Crosby Street store has a vibrant, yet simple interior with concrete floors, white walls and shelving units, and exposed brick walls around the sunglass displays. Plants are located throughout the store as well, next to wooden chairs and bunched together in corners.
Barrett told Vogue that opening the store during NYFW was an “obvious” decision. The recently named CFDA member and 2016 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist held his first Krewe fashion presentation at NYFW in 2016 and remains a part of the week unofficially this year with the store opening.
Krewe was named a runner-up of the 2016 CVFF alongside Adam Selman.
