In a release, the group clarified that O’Hara’s decision was not due to any disagreement with the company and that, in response to her resignation, the Board has approved the reduction of its size from nine to eight members.

The marketing and advertising executive with expertise in social and digital media, as well as data analytics and technology, had been on the group’s Board of Directors since September 2016. She is currently the Chief Marketing Officer of Global Media at Time Warner Inc., a company that she joined in 2002 as Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Sales Strategy.

Prior to this, she worked at Young & Rubicam Inc., leading brand strategy and business development for brands such as AT&T, Sony, Yum Brands, Dr Pepper, and 7Up.

Iconix Brand Group, Inc. is based in New York and owns a varied portfolio of consumer brands including Lee Cooper, Ocean Pacific and Zoo York. The Group licenses these brands to both American and international retailers and manufacturers, working primarily in the apparel, accessories and footwear sectors.

Peter Cuneo was appointed as Executive Chairman of the group’s Board in December of last year, commenting in a statement released at the time that “Iconix is going through a challenging time right now, and we need to be laser focused on building the core business operations, while we also evaluate strategic opportunities and work towards a balance sheet solution.”

In the same month the group reported that its third quarter licensing revenue had decreased by 12% compared to the same period in 2016, from $60.5 million to $53.2 million, due in part to its sale of the Sharper Image brand.

O’Hara’s resignation was effective as of January 18, 2018.
