Macy’s annual Flower Show celebrates the US

Macy’s on Sunday kicked off its annual Flower Show at its Herald Square flagship store in New York City. The 42nd edition of the floral installation celebrates various regions of the United States.

The retailer has created several gardens for the event each with a theme inspired by a different US region. The regions include the Enchanting Southeast; the Majestic Rocky Mountains; the Midwest Fruited Plains; the Pacific Northwest Wonderland; the Vast Southwest and the Shining Northeast Shores. Each region features plants and flowers that best represent the region like agave and cacti in the Southwest, pine in the Rockies, and tulips in the Northeast.

An All-American Garden rounds out the seven main gardens and encompasses the entire country with a replica Lady Liberty torch and a patriotic bouquet of tulips and azaleas joined by various cherry trees.

In addition to the main gardens, a number of companies pitched in for their own gardens. The featured gardens include the Girl Scouts of the United States of America’s Art in the Outdoors Garden; Royal Caribbean’s Tropical Oasis garden; Sinclair’s Dino Discovery Garden; Krazy Glue’s Fixer Garden and a giant coffee mug Nespresso Garden.

The flower installation is also being staged at Macy’s locations in Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis and San Francisco where the Flower Show began 40 years ago.

The Macy’s 42nd Annual Flower Show will run through April 3.
