Mango to open megastore in Milan

Mango is continuing to rack up megastore openings. The Catalan retailer’s new large-scale format, which it debuted in 2013, will soon add another store to its ranks, this time in Milan.

After Spain, of course, as well as France and Germany in particular, Mango is affirming the Italian market’s importance by making a significant investment in a new flagship.

Expected to open in May, the 32,000 square foot store square will be located on Milan’s most famous shopping street: the Corso Vittorio Emanuele. The space formerly served as the headquarters of the Italian publishing group Mondadori.

Covering three floors, the megastore will feature (as is the intention behind the format) all of the lines released as a result of the retailer's recently adopted diversification strategy: womenswear, obviously, but also Mango Man, Mango Kids, Sport, Intimates and its plus-sized line Violeta.

This will be Mango’s fourth store in Milan, and its largest in Italy, where it aims to strengthen its presence. The company has opened 83 stores in the country since 2001, generating a turnover there of 46 million euros in 2013, making it its ninth largest market in the world.
