Mary Katrantzou unveils her collaboration with Adidas Originals

It was announced for mid-November but Mary Katrantzou couldn't resist the pleasure of presenting her creations with Adidas Originals. The Cyprus-born British designer even pre-empted the brand with the three stripes' official press release by posting pictures of the collection on her Facebook page.

The collection, obviously for women, plays with the designer's signature colour-happy and punk-inspired style applied to the iconic look of the sneaker from the German giant, creating a funky colourful shoe that beautifully marries the two styles. It isn't just about shoes though. The partners give us a series of five tops and dresses with saturated colours playing with unstructured prints inspired by Adidas sneakers. The collection also includes a bomber jacket and a big coat.

"My research in sportswear made me approach this collection differently," Mary Katrantzou explains on her site. "I was able to explore a domain that was new for me and it opened my eyes to new technologies that I would like to incorporate in my future collections. I am excited about working with Adidas and I think this collection is a good starting point."

The designer also put her stamp on several models of sneakers, offering, for him and for her, very colourful but also customised choices with golden or soft leather tips.

This collection will be available in a limited number of upscale stores and some Adidas flagship stores. For the more general public, Adidas has been focused on its collection with Rita Ora.
