The store spans approximately 1460 square feet and mimics Matt & Nat’s usual modern store design featuring white shelving and exposed wood detailing.

The company, founded in 1995, is known for its accessories line made out of vegan leather and other eco-friendly and non-animal materials. It launched with a collection of handbags and has since expanded into footwear.

It opened its first store front in March 2016 and now operates nine stores across the Montreal and Toronto area, as well as in Ottawa.

The company has followed aggressive expansion plans, which still include the opening of forthcoming stores throughout Canada and the United States. The brand is equally available online via its own ecommerce business and through wholesale partnerships such as at La Maison Simons, The Bay and Indigo.

The company is well-positioned for expansion as more and more consumers adopt vegan and more of a plant-based lifestyle, which has heavily impacted the fashion industry.

Following in the footsteps of designers like Stella McCartney, more mainstream brands are starting to embrace vegan-friendly collections. Most recently, Topshop unveiled its first-ever vegan shoe collection featuring 12 styles.
