The first concept store was unveiled on Wednesday at the Toronto-Stockyards Walmart Supercentre with more locations across Walmart stores in Ontario and British Columbia expected to open before the end of the year.

"We're really excited about the launch of our first-ever Miniso X Walmart Canada store and the beginnings of an incredible partnership,” said Miniso Canada, in a news statement.

“Walmart has created an elevated store concept geared towards an efficient, convenient and connected shopping experience that blends perfectly with our shared core values of community, affordability and quality.”

Walmart announced last month an investment of $200 million in its store network, with a focus on refurbishing and refreshing 31 stores with its 'Urban Supercentre Concept'. The concept adds technology like shopping with the Walmart app and fast lane phone checkout.

Its new liscense strategy also includes the addition of partners like Miniso, which equally offers convenience products.

The value-priced retailer is often referred to as a variety store and offers high quality fashion at low prices, along with a variety of household and consumer goods that include cosmetics, stationery, toys and kitchenware.

“The synergistic partnership between Miniso and Walmart Canada combine convenience, community and exciting new, trend-forward offerings to Canadian consumers,” said Miniso.

Miniso entered Canada in April 2017 with ambitious expansion plans. It opened its first store in Vancouver and now operates close to 50 stores in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia.

Globally, it plans to open 6,000 new stores by 2020 including a focus on Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal in Canada.
