The Musée des Arts Décoratifs will host the exhibition, dubbed 'Thierry Mugler: Couturissime', which first launched at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in March 2019.

Opening on October 22, the exhibition will feature some 150 outfits produced between 1977 and 2014, exploring the different artistries of Thierry Mugler. In particular, his ready-to-wear and haute couture creations will be explored, along with his work as a director, photographer and perfumer.

“I am not a man who looks to the past, but the MMFA and Nathalie Bondil were the first to offer me to stage my creations and imagine together a global artistic vision, free and reinvented. So I immersed myself in this creative adventure. Today, a very beautiful chapter opens up for us with Paris, the city which opened its arms to me and the Museum of Decorative Arts, which is for me the most beautiful of places,” said Thierry Mugler, who now calls himself Manfred, in a news statement in French.

It’s not the first time the exhibit will come to Europe. In the fall, it was showcased at the Kunsthal Rotterdam art museum, where it is currently on display until March 8. It will then travel to the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung in Munich, where it will be on display from April 3 to August 30, 2020.

Parallel to 'Thierry Mugler: Couturissime', the Musée des Arts Décoratifs will also showcase a multidisciplinary exhibition devoted to the 80's in a neighbouring space. The cultural decade will be explored via graphic design, fashion, advertising and more.
