Mykilim partners with Rocky Barnes for Moroccan-inspired capsule collection

Accessories label Mykilim -- also known as Mklm --has collaborated with entrepreneur, influencer and former model, Rocky Barnes, for a summer capsule collection inspired by Morocco.

Made up of four handmade leather bags, the collection was designed after Barnes traveled with the brand throughout Morocco, combining the country’s unique culture that famously inspired Yves Saint Laurent with the easygoing style of Los Angeles, where Barnes is based. 

“I have always been inspired by Morocco and its rich culture,” said Barnes, who has a whopping 1.7 million followers on Instagram. “I have also been a longtime fan of Mklm and their unique ability to use traditional materials and techniques in a modern design...I think my love for color and unique details reflects my love for life and discovering treasures that I have found around the world.”

The collaborative collection is available now on Mykilim’s e-commerce site. 

The capsule’s campaign was shot throughout Marrakesh, including at the Jardin Majorelle and in the Moroccan desert. In a press statement, the brand announced that the collection will be presented in New York City during Fashion Week on September 10 at the Gitano Garden of Love.

Based in Paris and New York, Mykilim offers a range of handbags and small leather goods inspired by Moroccan aesthetics. All of the brand’s products are designed in Paris and handcrafted in Morocco, with a focus on using sustainable materials. Prices for Mykilim accessories typically range between $100 and $500. 

The Rocky Barnes collection makes Mykilim the latest brand to leverage a partnership with a mega-influencer for a brand boost, joining recent initiatives like Canadian retailer Ardene’s capsule collection with Lilly Singh and Vince Camuto’s fragrance campaign featuring Jasmine Sanders.
