The U.S. Census Bureau is improving the way it receives its retailer data by teaming up with The NPD Group

NPD Group to provide retail data to Census Bureau


Through a new deal, NPD will become the first third-party data provider to deliver regular data feeds to the Census Bureau’s monthly retail programs. It says it aims to make reporting of data more convenient, timely and cost-effective for retailers.
 
“Through this arrangement, retailers can rely on NPD to seamlessly work with the Census Bureau directly for these important undertakings, so they may focus their time and resources more thoroughly on their customers and business needs,” said Daniel De Pinho, SVP of Financial Services, Public Sector, and Government, The NPD Group. 
   
Specifically, Ron S. Jarmin, Deputy Director, U.S. Census Bureau, said it hopes to reduce redundant requirements on U.S. businesses and improve the timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency of its retail trade programs.

“Reducing respondent burden while still maintaining quality statistical standards is a key priority for the Census Bureau.”
