The owner of sports brands including Berghaus and Canterbury has named Katrina Nurse as its new chief financial officer.

Nurse will join Pentland Brands from Selfridges, where she has been finance director for the past four years. She has also previously held senior financial roles at Arcadia, including director roles for the Wallis, Evans, Topshop and Topman businesses.

In her new role, Nurse will lead Pentland’s finance teams across the portfolio of brands. In addition to Berghaus and Canterbury, the group  owns labels such as Ellesse, Speedo, Mitre and KangaROOS.

On her appointment, Nurse said: “I’m really excited to be joining the Pentland family to lead the finance team, at such an interesting time in their evolution. Pentland held particular appeal for me being a consumer of many of their brands, but the opportunity to broaden my knowledge of wholesale operations and brand marketing was too good an opportunity to ignore. I look forward to making a positive contribution with my retail background.”

Andy Long, chief executive officer, Pentland Brands, added: “Katrina has a strong track-record within the fashion retailer sector and we’re very much looking forward to her joining us in November.  Over the past year we’ve transformed our business, we’ve acquired new brands and licenses, we’ve increased investment in our current portfolio and we continue to look at new brand investment opportunities, so Katrina is joining us at a really exciting time.”

Nurse will succeed Sam Gilburd, who decided to leave the business last year, after ten years at Pentland Brands.
