Global clothing company Perry Ellis International, Inc. has announced a license agreement for Laundry by Shelli Segal with Thread Collective, Inc. Perry Ellis will now design and distribute Laundry by Shelli Segal sportswear throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The collection of women's skirts, shirts, pants, sweaters and jackets will launch in spring 2019 in department and specialty stores.

“We look forward to a successful relationship with Thread Collective and offering contemporary sportswear to our loyal consumers who have come to expect high quality design and modern, feminine fashion from our Laundry by Shelli Segal brand,” said Oscar Feldenkreis, CEO and President of Perry Ellis International.

This agreement comes after Perry Ellis International's declining womenswear business cost the company almost $5 million in sales in the second fiscal quarter.

This past August, Perry Ellis sat in the middle of a buyout war between CEO Feldenkreis, the company's second-largest shareholder, and men’s fashion accessories maker Randa. No official transaction has been made.

Based on a California-chic aesthetic, Laundry by Shelli Segal markets a variety of midrange women's apparel, swimwear, accessories and home goods. Head designer Shelli Segal joined the brand, then known simply as Laundry, in 1992. Currently, the brand is carried in most major American department stores.
