Longchamp indicated that Cassegrain, who spent 60 years with the group, died following complications from a Covid-19 infection.

In the course of his career, Cassegrain notably designed the famous Le Pliage handbag, in 1993, one of the highest-selling handbags worldwide.

Longchamp was founded in 1948 by Philippe Cassegrain's father, and is currently led by his son Jean.
