REI to open new store in Boca Raton, Florida

REI has announced its next store will come to Boca Raton, Florida in the fall of 2020. 

The 23,000 square-foot store will be located at the Uptown Boca lifestyle center, in west Boca Raton.

In addition to offering the company’s wide range of outdoor gear, REI Boca Raton will also offer personal outfitting services that connect customers REI experts who can help them select the correct gear for their next outdoor excursion, as well as offering a range of programs and local outdoor experiences.  

“Boca Raton and the surrounding area is known for its access to some of the best beaches in the country,” said Gail Kirkland, REI regional director for the south.

“From biking to swimming to a picnic on the beach, our goal is to offer everything our members and customers need to enjoy their favorite activities outside. As we continue to grow and expand in the state, we look forward to further connecting Floridians to the outdoor places they love and investing in the places that make this region special.”
 
REI opened its first Florida store in Jacksonville in 2013, and the company said it plans to double its presence in the state by 2021, with upcoming store openings scheduled in Gainesville and Tampa. 

In support of the state’s local adventure areas, REI invested over $140,000 in local outdoor nonprofits in Florida in 2019, including The Miami Foundation, Florida Trail Association and the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association of Florida.
