Reigning Champ partners with Asics on Kyoto Edition

Canadian streetwear brand Reigning Champ launched this week the first of four releases of a new partnership with Asics. 

 
Dubbed the 'Kyoto Edition', the collection includes performance products and everyday athletic wear inspired by the culture-rich city of Kyoto, Japan. 
 
Collection highlights include a running jacket, engineered tops, running shorts and the Gel-Kayano 25 performance running shoe, while its streetwear offering includes an elevated tracksuit, a pair of graphic t-shirts and the retro-inspired Asics Gel-Kayono 5 OG.

The collection draws on the tradition and craftsmanship of Kyoto by using traditional textile patterns from the city throughout the collection.
 
Graphic t-shirts feature side gusset detailing inspired by Japanese decorative Sashiko stitch technique for example, while engineered tops were inspired by traditional Boro textiles. 
 
Next, as part of its collaboration with Asics, Reigning Champ is expected to drop collections inspired by Vancouver, Paris and, finally, Tokyo in the run-up to the 2020 Olympic Games.
 
Reigning Champ has a strong history of brand partnerships. Most recently, it partnered with American professional soccer team and 2018 MLS Cup winners, Atlanta United, for a limited-edition capsule collection. It has also previously partnered with the likes of Adidas and the NBA. 
 
The collection is now available for purchase at select retailers, Reigning Champ flagship stores, and online at ReigningChamp.com and Asics.com.
