Having arrived at Kering less than two years ago, Roberto Vedovotto has been appointed the newest member of the group's executive committee, the group has announced in a press release.

The Italian executive joined the French luxury giant at the end of 2013 to pilot the strategy for Kering's luxury and sportswear brand by creating an internal eyewear platform, Kering Eyewear, of which he is the CEO.

"His appointment to the executive committee illustrates the importance of Kering Eyewear as a major growth lever for the group," emphasises Kering.

Roberto Vedovotto (49) notably played a central role in the restructuring and relaunch of the Safilo group, the second biggest global player in the eyewear sector, which he first managed from 2002 to 2006 and then from 2009 to 2013.

With a degree in business administration from the Bocconi University in Milan and a masters in finance from the London Business School, the executive previously held high-ranking positions, for some fifteen years, in the banking sector, at Morgan Stanley and then at Lehman Brothers / Nomura.
