Rocky Brands sells its Creative Recreation brand

Rocky Brands, Inc. has announced that it has sold its Creative Recreation brand and accompanying intellectual property rights to a private investment firm.


The sale will allow Rocky brands to focus on more profitable categories - Facebook: Rocky Boots


Included in the sale are all of Creative Recreation's inventory, product designs and molds. All related intangible assets including trademarks, licensing and other contracts were also sold.

Jason Brooks, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rocky Brands said the sale was favorable for the company, adding "the sale allows us to focus 100% on our profitable work, western, hunting and military categories where we believe our most important growth opportunities lie.”

Rocky Brands designs, manufactures and markets footwear and apparel for its brand portfolio which includes Durango, Georgia Boot, Lehigh, and Rocky. It also owns the license for the Michelin brand.

Creative Recreation was founded in 2002. It makes footwear, clothing and accessories for men and footwear for women.

Rocky Brands is based in Ohio. It was founded in 1932 and has carved out market share in work, western and military boot categories. It is distributed in 10,000 retail outlets across the US.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
