Canada will soon be home to one of the few Sarah Jessica Parker stores in North America.

The footwear line by the iconic Sex and the City star will open its first Canadian storefront in West Edmonton Mall this spring.

According to local media, the store will span 2,440 square feet and will ironically replace a Town Shoes location on the mall’s ground floor.

The brand was launched by both Sarah Jessica Parker and George Malkemus III in February 2014. Her shoes, which are often distinguishable through the signature grosgrain ribbon detail centered on the back of the heel, retail for $400 to $700.

Since its debut, the brand has opened six stores globally and is also sold via wholesale distribution at retailers worldwide.

Locations include two stores in New York City — one permanent store in the Seaport District, and a pop-up at 6 W. 52nd Street – a location at the Bellagio Hotel retail complex in Las Vegas, and a storefront at the MGM National Harbor Hotel and Casino, in Washington D.C.

Two other SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker stores can be found in the Middle East including at the Dubai Mall in Dubai and in The Galleria in Abu Dhabi.

It’s an interesting time for footwear in Canada. In recent years, many footwear retailers have struggled in the country with retailers such as Nine West and Payless exiting the country all together. DSW Inc. also exited the Town Shoes banner, which operated 38 locations in Canada.

The country has seen increased competition with new entrants like Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue offering more options to consumers, which has indeed shaken up the retail landscape.
