After expanding to Montreal in 2018, the multi-city fashion week event originating in Toronto in 2014, will officially launch in Vancouver with a 'Preview Party' on August 15, 2019.

The Preview Party will include networking, Canadian vendor activations and presentations from two emerging designers from Vancouver and Toronto: Fouronesix and Danya Modest Clothing.

“Vancouver has a vibrant range of fashion businesses and fashion-tech startups, which makes it the perfect destination to grow and expand Startup Fashion Week,” said Jodi Goodfellow, founder and executive producer of SFW, in a news statement.

“After the success of SFW in two of Canada’s fashion capitals, Toronto and Montreal, we want to engage with the west coast community. Our objective is to learn more about the culture, industry and startup ecosystem to determine if there is an opportunity to expand our full program out west.”

The event, which aims to help stimulate the growth of Montreal’s emerging fashion creatives and small businesses, held its Montreal edition earlier this month, with a new four-day programming.

SFW said it has brought awareness to more than 50 designers, 34 fashion-tech/wearable tech startups and more than 180 emerging fashion models, all based in Canada, since its inception five years ago.
