Global musical artist and producer Steve Aoki is continuing to dive into fashion with the US debut of his contemporary men's label Dim Mak Collection at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Dim Mak is Aoki's latest creative outlet blending fashion with music. Aoki said, “The soul of what I do has always been based on music, but I’m always going to follow my passion and interests in fashion equally."

The US Dim Mak collection launch follows his runway show at New York Fashion Week. Previously, Dim Mak was only available in Tokyo. Pieces this season include army green slouchy cargo pants, a reversible bomber jacket, a raglan canvas car coat, graphic tees and hoodies.

The collection is inspired by writer and artist William Burroughs and pulls its aesthetic from 70s New York post-Beat Generation. Aoki explained of Dim Mak, "You get to that point [where you're] like, ‘OK, I’ve done the t-shirts. I’ve done the hoodies. I want to immerse myself in cut and sew. I want to immerse myself in the full array of what fashion is."

Aoki was recently named global brand ambassador for Asics. The content of that partnership is to tell a story of how music and fashion are related through movement. Aoki called his increasing involvement in fashion a new wheelhouse and likened developing his label to "nurturing a second child."

Aoki has also recently released a number of fashion collaborations that span skate and entertainment lifestyle. His collaborations include those with Burton, Diamond Supply Co., Zumba, Converse and Happy Socks. He has an ownership interest in skate and street label Vision Street Wear which is available at Topman.

Aoki traces his interest in fashion back to when he was a teenager making promotional tee shirts for his band. He learned about screen printing and increasingly became more interested in fashion. He said now with his financial success as a musical artist and DJ, his Dim Mak label is a more expensive iteration of his DIY spirit that initially got him into printing tee shirts.

Aoki plans to collaborate with friends on his line to expand the perspective in the future, similarly to how he collaborates in music. Celebrity friends that the Las Vegas resident has spent time with on social media include Celine Dion and Colin Kaepernick.

He currently has 5.7 million Instagram followers and is known for his high energy shows. Forbes reports Aoki earned $29.5 million last year. He is a hard working performer who in 2014 was awarded the Guinness World Records award for being the most-traveled musician for his packed 2012 tour schedule that brought him to 41 countries.

Dim Mak is now available at select Saks Fifth Avenue stores and online. The collection is priced from $65 to $620.
