Celata comes to Style.me from RewardStyle, an invitation-only content monetization platform for style influencers, where he served as vice president. He also recently launched the LikeToKnow shopping app.

Prior to this, Celata worked as the fashion and retail sales director at The New York Times, where he also served as the director of business development in the R&D ventures group, helping to get content-sharing platforms to market.

Celata’s previous roles also include marketing positions at Esquire, Bon Appétit, Men’s Health and Vogue.

“The addition of Edward, and the creation of this new role, demonstrates our accelerated growth and readiness to evolve,” said Style.me CEO Rufus Parkinson in a release. “Edward brings an influential network and approach that supports our vision of developing a community of brands committed to fit tech innovation.”

Style.me is a virtual fitting room plugin that can be integrated into e-commerce platforms, allowing customers to “try on” apparel via a fully customizable avatar before making purchases. The company has developed proprietary technology in 3D scanning, as well as patented 3D geometric deform, simulation and layering technology since it was founded in 2015.

“Style.me represents the future necessity of consumer and brand interaction and providing a solution to a common problem that can stall the online shopping experience.  I am excited to be part of redefining e-commerce in the fashion and apparel industry that I’ve long been a part of,” stated Celata.

The announcement follows news of WGSN alum Carmen Ayala’s appointment as Style.me’s VP of sales, a role in which she will be tasked with pushing the platform’s growth as the company looks to expand and consolidate its position as a digital solutions provider for online fashion retailers.

Celata will be based at Style.me’s New York HQ.
