Calgary-based swimwear retailer Swimco has opened its first store in Eastern Canada, following over 40 years of business.

The 2,100-square-foot store opened at Square One in Mississauga, Ontario last month, and carries Swimco’s full selection of brands as well as a wider range of trend-focused pieces. The store opening will be followed by another retail location at CF Masonville Place in London, Ontario, set to open in February, as well as an opening at CF Limeridge in Hamilton, Ontario, set to open in March.

“Swimco’s expansion is a testament to our guiding principles of finding the best-fit and taking a positive approach to swimwear, which is what made us successful in Western Canada,” said Lori Bacon, president of Swimco, in a news statement. “We are looking forward to introducing our brand to the Ontario market and helping more people feel confident in their swimwear so that they can enjoy some of the best moments of their lives.”

In Western Canada, the company currently operates over 20 stores and employs over 250 people across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

The three generation family-operated business has a focus on product fit and body confidence. The company carries over 150 swim brands from classic styles to fashion-forward suits, fitness wear and specialty swimwear for women, men and kids. Shoppers can find brands such as Oakley, Nike, Billabong and more.

Swimco started in Calgary in 1975 by current President Lori Bacon’s mother, Corinne Forseth, as a mail-order swimwear business, originally catering only to swim teams and lifeguards.
