The chain store is celebrating 20 years of high-end designer collaborations next month, by rifling through its archives to curate a limited-edition selection of 300 products that will be re-released to shoppers.

The series, dubbed ‘The Anniversary Collection', will span fashion, accessories, home décor and kitchen necessities dreamed up over the course of 20 collaborations. Featured designers include the fashion giants Proenza Schouler, Thakoon, Anna Sui, Rodarte, Zac Posen, Missoni, Jason Wu, Phillip Lim, Altuzarra, Hunter and Marimekko.

"Target has forever changed the retail landscape by doing what once was considered impossible -- offering great design at an incredible price," said Mark Tritton, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Target, in a statement. "Each partnership brought something special and exciting to our guests, and with 20 years behind us, we're only getting started."

Since its first-ever designer collaboration -- with the architect Michael Graves in 1999 -- Target has gone on to work with more than 175 designers across the realms of fashion and product design. The brand's relationship with design and creatives will be explored in an upcoming book, set for publication by the high-end house Rizzoli in September 3 and via a documentary slated for release this fall.

The Anniversary collection will launch online and in-store at Target on September 14, priced from $7 to $160.
