Toronto-based business incubator, The Joe Fresh Centre for Fashion Innovation, has welcomed three new Canadian fashion-inspired startups.

The centre, which develops and funds emerging Canadian fashion-inspired businesses through the Fashion Zone at Ryerson University, helps accelerate Canadian start-ups with funding and mentorship support.

The fifth cohort includes Comfable Inc., a tech company which has created a wearable and a companion app that tracks sun exposure; LeDaveed, a growing e-commerce brand focused on creating premium leather bags; and TypeSift Inc., the only vendor-agnostic tool on the market, which acts as a hub for sharing reports around businesses.

"After reviewing a number of outstanding applications this cycle, the judges were most excited about the visions of these three companies," said Robert Ott, Co-chair of The Joe Fresh Centre for Fashion Innovation Management Committee, in a news statement.

“Each of these startups will be a tremendous addition to the centre, as they provide a unique product or service that aims to push the fashion industry forward," added Ian Freedman, President, Joe Fresh.

Benefits for the Joe Fresh Centre innovators include eligible marketing and promotion expenses of up to $5,000, dedicated office space mentorship and networking opportunities with Joe Fresh and Ryerson leadership teams, and more.

Cycle one of the Joe Fresh Centre for Fashion Innovation at Ryerson University came to an end in April. Cycle one innovators included Klothed, Wear Your Label, Formen, StyleID and Blanc de Noir.

The Joe Fresh Centre plans to incubate up to 21 new fashion-inspired businesses.
