The new appointments bring The RealReal's board total to eight members.

In a press statement, The RealReal's founder and board chair Julie Wainwright said the new directors "are innovative leaders with expertise spanning retail, technology, customer experience and finance industries." She continued, "Each new member is an invaluable addition and will undoubtedly strengthen our board."

Other directors on the company’s board include Wainwright, Michael Kumin, managing partner at Great Hill Equity Partners; Gilbert L. Baird III, co-founder and partner of PWP Growth Equity; and Maha Ibrahim, general partner of Canaan Partners.

Although representatives from the company have previously declined to comment, anonymous sources said The RealReal is considering an initial public offering (IPO) sometime this year.

In July 2018, The RealReal raised $115 million of private funding in a deal led by Perella Weinberg Partners. According to data provider PitchBook, the deal valued the company at $745 million.
