Tibi has named Emeka Obi as the contemporary fashion firm's first-ever vice president of marketing.

Obi began the new role in March of this year. The new vice president of marketing comes to Tibi with over 15 years' branding and marketing experience across several sectors encompassing retail, art, music, and consumer products. Most recently, Obi served as strategy director at VaynerMedia, where he worked for clients like Pepsi, JBL Speakers, and Mondelez Corporation with a focus on helping clients renew their brand relevance for the Gen-Z demographic.

Prior to his role with VaynerMedia, Obi worked at Game Seven Marketing and served as the client lead on the Beats by Dre account (Apple), where he led the brand’s creative strategy, partnership and content marketing programs. Obi has also spent time in the music sector, notably helping to launch the career of A$AP Rocky, and has worked on several independent pursuits in retail and brand development.

According to company executives, Tibi worked with executive recruiting firm Ahl & Berrien to recruit both Obi and McEwen, leveraging the firm's scope beyond the fashion industry to find candidates with uniquely diverse career backgrounds.

“In a moment where technology has rewritten the rules of branding and consumer behavior, brands have to be so smart and nimble about how they’re reaching, talking to, and selling to the customer," said Elaine Chang, president of Tibi. "[Obi] has his finger on the pulse of what makes people tick because of his diverse experience and his curiosity. We look forward to his contributions to Tibi.”

Obi’s appointment follows the company's previous hire of longtime Condé Nast executive Laura McEwen, who was named senior vice president of global sales in July of last year.
