Tommy Hilfiger is aiming to elevate athleticwear with the launch of Tommy Sport, its new athletic apparel line for men and women.
According to the PVH Corp-owned brand, the new line embodies Tommy Hilfiger’s classic American cool with added sports wardrobe essentials like compression technology, water-repellent fabrics, moisture wicking and stretch elements.
In terms of aesthetic, the inaugural Spring 2019 Tommy Sport collection fuses clear references to traditional high-performance athleticwear – think bright color-blocking, striped tape, and bold lettering – with a signature Tommy Hilfiger twist, including the new Tommy Sport logo inspired by the Tommy Hilfiger flag.
Lightweight, recycled fabrics are combined with technical functionalities throughout the collection's range of sports bras, leggings, shorts, tank tops, footwear, accessories and more, with prices ranging from $29.50 to $179.50.
The Spring color story is dominated by the brand's signature red, white, and blue palette, punctuated by pops of yellow.
The Tommy Sport launch comes at a time when demand for clothing that is adaptable for work, travel and play is continuing to grow, thanks in part to the increasing popularity of wellness as a lifestyle trend. Many consumers are now searching for outfits that can keep up with their varied activities, and labels like Tommy Hilfiger, as well as traditional sportswear brands like Nike, are obviously taking note.
“Active living has evolved into a way of life and changed the way we dress, with the next generations looking for designs that fit their on-the-go lifestyle,” said Tommy Hilfiger in a press release. “Clothing needs to follow this trend and we are delivering on consumer expectations with Tommy Sport, which injects a cool and bold edge into performance."
The Spring 2019 Tommy Sport collection is now available in Tommy Hilfiger stores and online at tommy.com, and will no doubt act as a boost to the buzz surrounding the brand since its latest collaborative collection with Zendaya showed in Paris earlier this month.
