Opening in the Greater Toronto Area at Oshawa Centre and Upper Canada in Newmarket, the locations will carry Uniqlo’s affordable and functional clothing line including signature collections like Heattech, Ultra Light Down, Cashmere, Airism along with premium Jeans and UT.

The expansion brings the total number of Uniqlo locations in Ontario to seven.

“We’re thrilled to extend our presence in the GTA with two new stores and introduce even more Canadians to our LifeWear products, especially in Oshawa, an already well-established shopping destination and a city that vibrates with concerts, sports events and festivals, and in Newmarket, one of the most dynamic, diverse and desirable towns to live and work in Canada,” said Yasuhiro Hayashi, Chief Operating Officer of Uniqlo Canada, in a news statement.

The retailer entered the Canadian market in fall 2016 with the opening of its first store in Toronto at CF Toronto Eaton Centre. To date it operates five stores in the Greater Toronto Area and four stores in Metro Vancouver.

In August, the retailer also become available to all Canadians via its new shoppable Uniqlo CA app and mobile store.

Last week, the owner of Uniqlo, Fast Retailing Co Ltd, announce a drop in quarterly profits, which surprised analyst. Its overall operating profit fell 8 percent to 104.7 billion yen ($970.16 million) over September-November.

The retailer blamed the drop on unseasonably warm weather.

Since opening its first store in Japan in 1984, Uniqlo has around 2,000 stores in 18 markets worldwide including China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, and more.
