VF Corp appoints VP, general counsel of Kontoor

VF Corporation has named Laurel Krueger vice president, general counsel of the group’s new spin-off jeans company, Kontoor Brands, Inc. 

 
The result of the separation of its denim business, first announced back in August, Krueger will oversee Kontoor Brands’ legal function, including compliance, mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance.
 
“Laurel is a seasoned legal executive with nearly 20 years of experience, including in the retail industry,” said CEO Scott Baxter, whom Krueger will report to. 

“Her breadth of leadership experience with multinational corporations will be an asset to our team as we embark on our new journey as an independent company and grow our business in the denim and apparel categories.”
 
Krueger joins Kontoor Brands from Signet Jewelers Limited, where she served as executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Prior to that, she held a variety of legal leadership roles at retail and manufacturing companies like Federal-Mogul Corporation, Tecumseh Products Company and Borders Group, Inc.
 
The new company, whose name is a play on the word "contour", will include Wrangler, Lee and Rock & Republic brands, as well as the VF Outlet business. Meanwhile, VF will continue to manage its active and outdoor brands, such as Vans, Timberland and The North Face.
 
The global apparel and footwear company said the separation is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2019.
